The Member of Parliament for Techiman South and Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, has expressed his gratitude to the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, for his role in the creation of the Bono East Region.
Hon. Adjei-Mensah Korsah said the region will forever be grateful to the President not only for creating the region but also for his efforts in bringing local governance closer to the people.
He said the President has put adequate measures in place to ensure that the region will develop at a rapid pace saying “the creation of the region has brought about significant progress and has brought local governance closer to the people, making it more accessible and effective.”
Hon. Adjei-Mensah Korsah said; “Our region was created by President Akufo-Addo, I was then his Deputy Minister and together with my then Minister, Dan Botwe, we will able to create the region.
“We are very grateful to him and we will always remember him for his good works. President Akuf0-Addo after creating the region has ensured that we get all what we will need to develop as a new region.
“With the same land size, the erstwhile Brong Ahafo region now has three Regional Houses of Chiefs of which we in the Bono East region are part. Instead of the erstwhile Brong Ahafo to represent five chiefs at the National House of Chiefs, we now represent 15 chiefs and I believe the nation now has a lot of minds to pick from when it comes to sharing ideas to develop our country.
“From Kintampo, Nkoranza, Prang, Techiman and all the other districts in the region, there are massive development in the region.
“Under President Akufo-Addo, local governance is now closer to us, we no longer have to travel long distances to get access to government departments, he has brought a total transformation.”
According to him, President Akufo-Addo’s government has redefine local governance and decentralization and that will be one of his numerous legacies as a President of the Republic of Ghana.
“Ghana will remember President Akufo-Addo as the President that gave true meaning to local governance and decentralization.” He said.
The Bono East Region was created in 2019, and since then, it has seen significant progress in terms of infrastructure development, education, and healthcare. Hon. Adjei-Mensah Korsah believes that the region will continue to thrive and develop under the leadership of the NPP government.
