The Public Relations Officer of the Bono East Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Ismail Yakubu, has called on Ghanaians to embrace tolerance and unity to promote peaceful coexistence and national development.
He made the call during the launch of the 30th anniversary of the Techiman Local Council of Churches at the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Techiman.
Alhaji Yakubu reminded citizens that both Christians and Muslims are worshiping the same God in their unique ways and must therefore see themselves as one people.
“We were all created in the image of God with the purpose of worshiping Him. We should always remember that Christians and Muslims are one people, all worshiping God in their unique ways.”

He explained the need for mutual respect and understanding among people of different faiths, noting that such attitudes are vital for building a peaceful and prosperous Ghana.
“We should be tolerant of the views and beliefs of others, and by doing so, we will contribute to the development of our country.”
Reflecting on the milestone being celebrated by the Local Council of Churches, the Chairperson of the Techiman Local Council of Churches, Rev. Dr. Roland Okai, expressed gratitude to God for sustaining the council through three decades of challenges and achievements.
“We are most grateful to God for how far He has brought us. Thirty years has not been easy for us. We have faced many ups and downs, but through the efforts of all the denominations in the municipality and by the grace of God, we have been able to pull through. We are grateful to all who showed up during the launch of our 30th anniversary.”
He disclosed that as part of activities marking the anniversary, the council aims to construct an auditorium for all believers in the municipality, with support from corporate bodies and individuals.
Rev. Dr. Okai further revealed that the planned activities for the 30th anniversary include quizzes, indoor and outdoor games, and other social events aimed at promoting unity and fellowship among member churches.

“Our aim for this anniversary is to build an auditorium for all believers in the municipality, and we need the support of corporate organizations and individuals to help in its construction.
“We have lined up a series of activities, including quizzes, indoor and outdoor games, and many others to help promote socialization and the growth of the Techiman Local Council of Churches.”
Founder and Overseer of the Builders Christian Church Ghana, Bishop Thomas Yeboah Afari, told our reporter that the Techiman Local Council of Churches will continue to work closely with traditional leaders and government institutions to advance development and strengthen moral values in the municipality.

“Through the Local Council of Churches, there is hope for the country to draw closer to God and walk in His path for growth and prosperity. Our 30-year celebration is a reminder for us to collaborate effectively with our traditional leaders and government institutions in the municipality.
“Our doors are always open to all communities, especially our revered traditional leaders, to support the development of our community and Ghana at large.”
The Bono East Regional Fire Commander and pastor at Gospel Light International Church, ACFO 11 Naomi Adubea Sarpong, speaking with our reporter shared her personal motivation for joining the council, referencing Galatians 3:28, which emphasizes that all are children of God through faith.

“The reason I joined the Local Council of Churches in Techiman is that the Word of God teaches in Galatians 3:28 that we are all children of God through faith. I therefore found it necessary to join the Techiman Local Council of Churches to help advance the kingdom of God.”
