The Bono East Regional Health Directorate of the Ghana Health Service, has revealed that, the region has recorded 2 positives cases of covid19 in the year 2024.
According the regional Director of Health, Dr. Fred Adomako, some suspected cases were reported and 2 of those cases turned out to be positive after a test was done.
According to the Directorate, they had received a number of suspected COVID-19 cases, of which two tested positive after laboratory analysis.
He explained that, Covid-19 virus has become an endemic disease and part of our daily lives such as other virus and therefore urged the general public to adhere to all safety protocols in battling the virus.
“I will say the covid is now part of us such as endemic diseases like malaria. so we have a lot of mechanisms in place even the cases we recorded in 2023, the Bono East region took about 175 samples and 18 were positive for Covid-19 and none of them were severe.
“One of the mechanism we used during 2023 was the monitoring flu cases, so we put surveillance at places that flu are predominant and we got our samples and currently in 2024, we have recorded 2 positive cases but this does not mean we shouldn’t get vaccinated because we have a target of 64.7% to meet so far as the vaccination is concerned.” He said
“We urge the general public to continue adhering to the COVID-19 safety protocols, such as wearing face masks, practicing good hand hygiene, and maintaining social distancing. This will help us contain the spread of the virus in the region,” the Director added.
The Bono East Regional Health Directorate assured residents that they are working closely with the Ghana Health Service and other relevant authorities to ensure the effective management of the situation and the well-being of the affected individuals.
Dr. Adomako, urged the citizenry to discourage the mystery behind the vaccines, he said it is free from all those mystery.
