The Bono East Regional Minister Hon. Kwasi Adu-Gyan has admonished  all Municipal and District Chief Executives in the region to take very good care of the District Road Improvement Program (DRIP) equipment.

According to him, any Chief Executive Officer that will be caught misusing the District Road Improvement Program (DRIP) equipment or leaving them idle without using them for its intended purpose shall be severely dealt with.

Hon. Kwasi Adu Gyan, said this when he officially handed over the equipment to the various MMDCEs in the Bono East region.

Addressing a short gathering to officially hand over the DRIP equipment in Techiman to all the eleven (11) Municipal/District Assemblies in Bono East, Hon. Kwasi Adu-Gyan admitted that the Region despite being the food basket of the country had challenges with road infrastructure and expressed  hope that with the supply of the equipment, the assemblies would be in a better position to make the majority of the roads accessible and motorable for the communities.

He therefore tasked the various MDAs to cultivate the culture of maintenance to prolong the lifespan or use of the DRIP equipment.

“I am hopeful that we will all take very good care of these machines for the betterment of our region and the country at large, we all bear witness to the number of equipment we will be disbursing today but the truth is, these are only 20% of the equipment we are expecting so you can just imaging the number of DRIP machines we will have in our region when we take delivery of the remaining 80%.

“Our formal regional Minister, Hon. Kofi Amoakohene is the regional coordinator for District Road Improvement Program (DRIP) equipment and I will entreat all of you here, I mean our District Chief Executives and Municipal Chief Executives, to take very good care of these machines, don’t leave them idle, use them for its intended purpose so that we can collectively develop our region.

“The committee in charge of the District Road Improvement Program (DRIP) equipment will not take it lightly on any MMDCE who refuses to use the machines for its purpose or misuse it.” He said.

For his part, the Bono East Regional Manager for Zoomlion, Mr. George Kwasi Manu reiterated that as part of the DRIP agreement with the Government, J.A.Plant Pool; suppliers of the equipment would be responsible for maintaining the equipment and the supply of spare parts.

He said the Company would also bring in Technical Personnel to train those who would handle the equipment to ensure that those in charge have the required technical know-how to maintain them.

The DCE for Nkoranza North and also the Dean of MDCEs in Bono East Region, Hon. Peter Osei-Fosu on behalf of his Colleagues expressed gratitude to President Nana Akuffo-Addo and Dr Bawumiah for solving one of their major challenges with a promise to put the equipment to good use.

“On behalf of all the MMDCEs in the Bono East Region, we say a very big thank you to President Nana Addo Dankwa, his vice and our Flagbearer, Dr. Bawumia and all those who helped in acquiring these machines for the region.

“We the MMDCEs in the region have been crying for these machines and I can promise you that we will take very good care of them, use them efficiently for the development of our districts and the Bono East region.” He said
