The Bono East Dagaaba Catholic Association gathered this past weekend for their annual Thanksgiving Service at the picturesque Techiman Grotto.
The event, which drew members from across the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo region, was a heartfelt expression of gratitude to God for the blessings of good health and prosperity over the past year.
The service, marked by prayers, hymns, and reflections, was led by prominent local clergy who emphasized the importance of gratitude in the Christian faith. Attendees were reminded of the numerous ways in which they had been blessed, particularly in overcoming challenges and maintaining their health during trying times.
In attendance were the Techiman South Member of Parliament for Techiman and Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, Techiman South Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko, the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Techiman South, Christopher Beyere, NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Techiman North, Martin Oti Gyarko, former DCE for Techiman North, Hon. Peter Mensah Kumbeso and representatives of the Member of Parliament for Techiman North, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare.
In addition to the spiritual aspect, the event aimed to engage the youth in discussions about peace and peaceful coexistence within the community. Leaders of the association conducted educational sessions highlighting the significance of harmony and collaboration among different groups, especially in today’s diverse society. They encouraged young people to be ambassadors of peace and to actively contribute to a united community.
The planning committee Chairperson for the Bono, Ahafo and Bono East Dagaaba Catholic Association, Mr. Samuel Wienaa, in an interview with Elvisanokyenews.com, explained that, the association organized the thanksgiving mass at the last week of October yearly to give thanks to God for life and ask for blessing ahead of the New Year.
“This program is an annual program ,which is always organized at the last week of October . We the Dagaabas at the erstwhile Bono Ahafo Region. We meet here to organize a mega mass.
“We are very grateful to our Lord Bishop, since we started this association, he has been very supportive, he always join us to worship, although he couldn’t make it this year, he deliciated three of his priests to represent him.
“We have been here since Thursday and I will say it has been very success, the priests have been really supportive and we are very much grateful, especially to our Lord Bishop and Father Pius, who is the Priest for this Grotto.” He told our reporter.
Mr. Wienaae used the opportunity to advise the politicians and their supporters to preach peace during their campaigns. He also urged the youth especially Dagabaa youths not to engage in any activity that will bring the elections into disrepute.
“We are in an election year, all the major political parties were invited and they honored our invitation, the Member of Parliament for Techiman South, Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Techiman South, Christopher Beyere, Techiman North Member of Parliament, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare sent a delegation to represent her and the NPP Parliamentary Candidate, Martin Oti Gyarko also came to grace the occasion.
“They all talked about peace and peaceful coexistence and that is what our mass was also centered around. We know everybody here has a party they will vote for but elections is not about violence.
“God has already appoint who will be the next president and those that will be in parliament. We will just be going to the polls to affirm God’s choice so I don’t see the need for us to fight.
