Barrister & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana, Obrempon Lawyer Emmanuel K. Nkansah – Ninwie, (Nkansa-Ninwie Chambers) has advised students to be discipline.
Lawyer Emmanuel K. Nkansah – Ninwie, said education is the key to success. He however said although education is the key to success, without learners being discipline and focusing on their education, it will be extremely difficult for them to be successful in the future hence the need for them to be discipline, hardworking, honest, and focus on their education.
He said this during the launching of speech and prize giving day of 85th anniversary program of Osei Tutu SHS (ABREMPONG) at Akropong in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti where he was the guest speaker.
Obrempon Lawyer Emmanuel K. Nkansah – Ninwie, admonished the learners not to do anything to bring the name of the school into disrepute since they are the image of the school and whatever they will do will reflect back to the institution.
“The image of the school depends on the learners, the behavior of the of the learners once they complete schooling speaks volume about the school.
“I am urging them to take their studies very seriously, whatever they aspire to be in the future all depends on how serious they take their education. The greatest wealth anyone can have in this world is their mind and how they can utilize their mind.
“So Learners should take their education very serious and they should also be discipline because it will be difficult for anybody to progress if he or she is not discipline. Discipline is one of the core values of Osei Tutu SHS, so the learners must be discipline and honest.
“Honesty is also important in the journey of life and I will entreat them to be also confident in whatever they will be doing because self-confident is also very important.” He said.
The Headmaster of Osei Tutu SHS, Obrempon Very Rev Bright Yaw Osei who is also the first Obrempon to head the school, appreciated the co-operation from the Board, Management, Old Boys and highlighted some of the challenges facing the school and calling on stakeholders for support.
“The school was established in the year 1940 so by next year, it will be 85 years of which we will celebrate it in a grand style. We are launching the celebrations of the 85 years anniversary today to create awareness about the upcoming event.
“The double track system is not helping us a school, so my vision is to turn the school into a single track school. We need a dormitory that can house about 1,000 learners, we will also need toilet facility, beds, and chairs.
“We need to do a renovations in the school, we currently have 21 staff bungalows which is not adequate, most of the staff stays far way from campus so we are pleading with the public and government to help establish staff bungalows for us.” He said.
Touching on the recent performance of the school in the National Maths and Science Quiz Program, Obrempon Very Rev. Bright Yaw Osei commended the students for their outstanding performance despite lack of science logistics in the school, he called for the construction of a new Laboratory block to facilitate the teaching of science in the school.
“I envision us winning the National Maths and Science Quiz Program, I have created a conducive environment for our learners who participate in the competition, I ensure that they get the best of preparation and I am always with them.
“I believe that our performance in this year’s program is by the doing of God, we made a record for reaching the semi-finals stage and I believe that next year, we will reach the final stage and come home with the cup to celebrate our 85th anniversary.”
“If we don’t invest in our learners, we won’t be able to compete in the competition, the learners are being fed very well and have professional facilitators helping them, we need the support of the public to help us progress especially in terms of getting a laboratory block to facilitate the teaching of science in the school” Very Rev. Bright Yaw Osei told our reporter.
