Be Bold to Speak on Political Matters – Asiedu Nketia Advices Chiefs

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC),Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketia has advised chiefs to be bold to speak on political matters than to say chiefs are not allowed to engage in politics.

According to him, chiefs are only advised to stay away from partisan politics, emphasizing that they can voice out their opinions whenever there are political issues.

“Don’t keep silent on political issues that may jeopardize the future of Ghana’s development, and also commend the political parties for good policies to enhance a swift development of Ghana”,Mr. Asiedu said.

He further indicated that the department of the country is a collective responsibility of all stakeholders and not a sole responsibility of politicians, and therefore stressed that chiefs should collaborate with politicians and other stakeholders to ensure the growth and development of Ghana.

General Mosquito made this call when he visited Subin Electoral Area,a suburb in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region, where he responded to a statement Nana Kofi Adjei I, the Ameyaw Hene of Subin traditional council, stating that “chiefs are not supposed to engage in politics”.

He further entreated the Constituents of the Upper Denkyira West Constituency to reaffirm their support for the NDC Parliamentary Candidate who was voted into parliament the first time in the 2020 general elections, adding that they should vote for both the presidential and Parliamentary candidates respectively in the persons of former president John Dramani Mahama and Lawyer Daniel Ohene Darko to ensure the development of the community.

Nana Kofi Adjei I,the chief of Subin in his speech called on the NDC to make the development of the Subin a top priority.

Speaking at the meeting with Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the chief revealed that the road that joins Ayanfre to Subin is deteriorated and needs to be fixed, stating that the NDC should help them get asphalted roads.

He also highlighted the quest to have a Senior High School in the area to accommodate students at the SHS level.
