The vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has urged Ghanaians to celebrate the  Easter responsibly, ensuring that festivities do not lead to harm or conflict.

He emphasized the need for Ghanaians to rejoice in unity and solidarity, making the occasion incident-free and conducive to spiritual growth. Dr. Bawumia invoked the spirit of Easter as a symbol of hope, renewal, and redemption, drawing parallels to the teachings of Jesus Christ on compassion, justice, and love.

Speaking at the Easter Convention by the church of Pentecost at Gomoa Buduburam on Friday, March 29, 2024, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)  said Easter is time for reflection, spiritual renewal, and fostering a culture of dialogue, understanding, and compromise.

He also called on Ghanaians to pursue peace and reconciliation, irrespective of political or religious affiliations most especially in this year’s general elections.

“It is imperative for Ghanaians to rise above partisan interests for the collective good of the nation.” Bawumia advised Ghanaians.

Meanwhile, the vice president in a X post expressed his appreciation to the congregations for their warm welcome.

“As part of the Easter festivities, I was a special guest at the Church of Pentecost in Buduburam and the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Trinity Congregation in Kwashieman, for Good Friday Service.” Dr. Bawumia wrote.

“I spoke about the need for inclusivity and diversity, as well as the common reverence both Muslims and Christians have for Jesus Christ. I am grateful to both congregations for their warm welcome, and their prayers for me and the nation. Happy Easter, once again, to all Christians.” He added.

The vice president was accompanied by esteemed members of his entourage, including Hon. Hawa Koomson, Joseph Cudjoe, Hon. Asamoah Boateng, Hon. Kojo Asemanyi, Hon. Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, Hon Sammy Awuku and Hon. Opare Ansah.
