An organized group of fans called ‘Bawumia fan Club’ have promised to fund the GH₵50,000 fees for the Vice President of Ghana Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to pick his form when nominations are opened.
The club said, Dr. Bawumia is endowed with lots of good ideas that will help the development of the country and so it is necessary they support him to lead the party in the 2024 general elections as flagbearer and become president of the Republic.
According to them, the accumulation of the money was through the dues they pay as members nationwide.
Speaking to the National Chairman of the club, Mr. Twumasi Ankrah Eric, stated that the executives of the club nationwide came together to decide on the funding of the form.
“Undoubtedly, Dr. Bawumia can pay the fees by himself but we want to do that for him as a club dedicated to his honour” he added.
He pleaded with delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) nationwide to vote for Dr Bawumia as the presidential candidate during the primaries.
The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has disclosed his intention to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the 2024 general elections.
According to a report by Accra based Citi FM, the Vice President announced this in a closed door meeting with the majority caucus in Parliament.
Meanwhile, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has set November 4, 2023, as the date for its presidential primaries to select a flagbearer for the general elections in 2024.
However, if more than five candidates file to run in the primaries, the party will call a Special Congress on August 26.
The nomination period for the presidential primaries will begin on May 26 and end on June 24, 2023.
The party has also announced that parliamentary primaries will be held in February 2024.
