FC Barcelona suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat to AS Monaco in the Joan Gamper Trophy at the Lluís Company’s Olympic Stadium

The Joan Gamper Trophy is an annual association football exhibition match held in August, before the start of Barcelona’s La Liga season, where top division clubs from the world compete against them. However, Hans-Dieter Flick’s side failed to impress their home supporters as they were humiliated by AS Monaco. The loss marks a disappointing start to the new season for the Spanish giants, who were expected to dominate the competition.

FC Barcelona struggled to find their rhythm throughout the match, failing to create any meaningful chances against a well-organized and determined Monaco side. Barca managed a goalless score in the first open 45 minutes of the game but they couldn’t stop Monaco from scoring during the final 45 minutes.

19 year old Christian Mawissa Elebi, got the third goal for AS Monaco in the 86th minute, ceasing the win for the French side.

Lamine Camara scored the first goal for the French side on the 5oth minute with Breel Embolo doubling their lead after 7 minutes when he got AS Monaco’s second of the day on the 57th minute.

The Culers struggled to disturbed Philipp François Köhn post as he kept a clean sheet for the Rouges et blancs  as they ended the game with a 3:0 win over Barcelona

AS Monaco, is the first team to beat Barcelona to the Joan Gamper Trophy since 2012 when Barca lost the cup in a 1:0 defeat to Sampdoria

The defeat will serve as a wake-up call for the Blaugrana, who will need to regroup and refocus ahead of their upcoming La Liga fixtures.
