The Ashanti Regional Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Kwame Baa Mensah, has been released from his position.

According to sources, his letter of termination was handed to him last night, marking the end of his tenure in the organization.

Details of the termination are still unclear, but it is understood that the decision was made in connection to the poor nature of the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports Stadium which has led to a ban by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), preventing the country from hosting international matches.

The termination of Kwame Baa Mensah appointment comes at the back of the dismissal of his boss, Dodzie Numekevor, who was the Director General of the National Sports Authority.

Baa Mensah and Dodzie Numekevor removal comes at a time when the government is under increasing pressure to upgrade and maintain the country’s sports infrastructure to meet CAF’s international requirements.

The move to sack them from office is seen as part of efforts by government to ensure that football officials are capable of maintaining the pitches properly.
