Kumasi Asante Kotoko has terminated the contract of Yussif Mohammed Nurudeen.
The 31-year-old defender joined Kotoko in August 2023 on three years contract but the club parted ways with the player by mutual consent.
The decision comes after the Porcupine Warriors were unable to secure a permanent transfer to Kumasi.
The Ghana Premier League Giant stated that the decision for determination of Mohammed Nurudeen’s contract was made to maintain the cohesion the team is building for the new season.
“In light of this, an emergency meeting was convened on Sunday, August 4, 2024, where the Interim Management Committee (IMC) agreed to part ways with the player in the best interest of both parties. This decision was made to maintain the cohesion the team is building for the new season.” Kotoko said.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko has indicated that the management is rebuilding the team ahead of the 2024/25 season.
“The IMC would like to assure our supporters that the club will not suffer any financial or sporting penalties due to this decision and wishes Nurudeen the best for the future. The club will not be making any further comments on this decision and considers the matter closed.” Part of the statement said.
Yussif Mohammed Nurudeen earliar disclosed that has begun the process to seek for a transfer from authorities through the Ministry of Health (MoH) to get transfer to Kumasi and join his club.
“You know I am a professional nurse, playing in Kumasi and working in Tamale is very difficult for me. I’m still at home, working around to see how I can be transferred to Kumasi.” He reportedly said.
As part of the rebuilding process, Kotoko has signed new players to face the next Ghana Premier League season.
Kotoko recently beat their opponent Accra Hearts of Oak to win the Democracy Cup.
