Former Black Stars Captain, Asamoah Gyan has disclosed that former President John Dramani Mahama was quick to respond to his call in the search for the late Ghanaian hiplife musician, Theophilus Tagoe, popularly known as Castro, Castro Under Fire or Castro De D’Destroyer.
Ghana’s all-time top scorer, commended Mr. Mahama for his vigorous attempt and support to bring Castro back to life.
After the disappearance of the musician, Asamoah Gyan made every effort to help rescue his friend.
Speaking in an interview at the Bukom Boxing Arena during a boxing event on December 23, 2023, Baby Jet revealed that Mr. Mahama sent about 10 helicopters to Ada to help in the search for Castro.
“Yes, I would like to greet his excellency, former president John Dramani Mahama, one thing I remember during 2014 when my friend’s incident happened. I called him on the phone and he asked me what he could do to help and I told him anything he could do, I remember within less than an hour there were like 10 helicopters at Ada.”” Asamoah Gyan stated.
He revealed that John Dramani Mahama was the sitting president who used to call him on the phone when he was in power.
“He was the sitting president who normally talks to me on the phone when he was in power and I always appreciate what he did for me when he was in power,” the former Black Stars player revealed.
Castro was born on 1 May 1982.
It was reported on 6 July 2014 that Castro and Miss Janet Bandu were drowned following a jet ski accident in Ada Estuary while on holiday with the Gyan brothers.
The jet ski involved in the accident was recovered on the same day of their disappearance but their bodies had not been recovered.
Ghanaians expressed shock after the disappearance of Castro and Janet Bandu.
They were declared dead after 7 years, according to the law of Ghana.
