It was an emotional moment when United States of America president, Joe Biden cried as he wished his party farewell during Democratic National Convention.

The 2024 DNC took place at the United Center Arena in Chicago on Monday, August 19 and is expected to end on Thursday, August 22 2024.

Addressing delegates and supporters, Joe Biden stated that he gave his best to Americans during his term of office.

“For me and my family, there is a song that means a lot to us. The song is called ‘American Anthem’. There is one verse that stands out, and I can’t sing worth a damn so I am not going to try. What will our children say? Let me know in my heart. When my days are through. “America, America, I gave my best to you,” Joe Biden stated.

According to him, selecting Kamala was his best decision when he became a nominee for the Democrats.

“Selecting Kamala was the very first decision I made when I became our nominee and it’s the best decision I made in my whole career. Her story represents the best American story. And like many of our best presidents, she was a Vice president.” He added.

Joe Biden earlier explained that his decision to drop out of the presidential race was to avoid distraction.

“What happened was that first, a number of my Democratic colleagues in the House and Senate thought that I was going to hurt them in the races. And I was concerned that if I stayed in the race, that would be the topic.” He explained.

The 2024 DNC will give opportunity to Vice President Kamala Harris formally accepting her party’s nomination for president and confirm running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

Speakers include: Former First Lady, Michelle Obama and former president of the United States of America Barack Obama, former President Bill Clinton and former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi are expected to speak at this year’s DNC.

Others are: Illinois Governor Jay Robert “JB” Pritzker, Ms Harris’s husband, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, first lady Jill Biden, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and New York Gov. Kathy Hochul.
