The Atwima Nwabiagya North Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Hon Alhaji Abdul Salam Issah has appeal to Ghanaians especially NPP faithfuls to remain steadfast and allow the flagbearer of the party, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia choose his running mate in his convenient time.
He said if the vice president chooses a running mate without proper consultations it will go against the party in the December 7 poll.
According to him, he shares sentiment with the rank and file of the party for delayance of the running mate but sooner the announcement would be made.
Speaking to the media, Alhaji Abdul Salam endorsed Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Member of Parliament for Manhyia South and Minister of Energy as a running mate to Dr. Bawumia.
Hon Salam deduced his analysis based on commitment, loyalty, unifier, consent of grassroots , development oriented amongst others as hallmarks of NAPO which he believes the two leaders can lead the party to break the 8.
“I am appealing to party supporters to give the flagbearer of the party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia time and allow him to choose his running mate at his right time. What we have to focus on is winning the elections so I think the flagbearer needs time to do proper consultation to choose someone who shares his vision and can unite the grassroots to win the 2024 elections.” He appealed.
Going forward, Hon Alhaji Abdul Salam Issah appreciated the good work done by the NPP government under the leadership of president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
He said the NPP has done better than any other government in the 4th republic of Ghana so Ghanaians should vote for them in the December 7 polls.
The New Patriotic Party is aimed to break the 8 years cycle in government in the 2024 general elections.
