Newcastle United’s star forward Alexander Isak has been crowned the English Premier League Player of the Month for December while his opener against Liverpool has been awarded the Guinness Goal of the Month of December, following an exceptional run of form in the month under review.

The 25-year-old Swedish professional was  involved in a remarkable 10 goals across six matches in December 2024, scoring eight goals and providing two assists. Isak scored in all 6 Premier Leagues in the month of Decembers with goals against Liverpool, Brentford, Leicester City, Ipswich Town, Aston Villa, and Manchester United.

His clinical finishing and playmaking ability proved instrumental in Newcastle’s surge up the Premier League table as the Magpies secured 13 points out of possible 18 in the month of December.

The 25-year-old is only the fourth Swedish player to win the EA SPORTS Player of the Month award since it was introduced in 1994/95. The others are Freddie Ljunberg for Arsenal in April 2002,John Elmander for Bolton Wanderers in November 2010, and Zlatatn Ibrahimovic for Manchester United in December 2016. He is also the first Newcastle player to claim the prize since October 2022, when Miguel Almiron won it.

Alexander Isak, also won the December Guinness Goal of the Month award with his goal in the 3:3 draw against Liverpool on 4th December, 2024 at the St. He James Park. Isak opened the scoring on that fateful day on the 35th minute.

He is now one of only six players to claim both the Player of the Month and Goal of the Month awards in the same month, following Cole Palmer, in April 2024, Bruno Fernandes in June 2020, Jese Lingard  in April 2021, Mohamed Salah in October 2021 and Miguel Almiron in October 2022.
