Newcastle United and English Premier League legend Alan Shearer has disclosed it only Chelsea FC have the financial muscles in the Premier League to buy Alexander Isak from Newcastle United in the 2025 Summer transfer.
Isak joined the Magpies on 26 August 2022, from Real Sociedad on a six-year contract or an undisclosed fee, reported to be around £63 million, which would be a club transfer record.
The player has so far played 89 games in all competitions for Newcastle United, scoring 50 goals in the process. The 25-year-old Swedish striker has been in blistering form for Newcastle United this season, contributing to 19 goals in 22 games across all competitions. He has scored 13 goals and provided 4 assists in 18 Premier League matches, while also netting 2 goals in EFL matches.
Alexander Isak has attracted many interest from big teams across Europe with Arsenal believe to be leading the race for the signature of the 25-year-old sensational attacker. However, Alan Shearer is of the view that aside Chelsea, no other team in the English Premier League can buy the player out of contract due to the player’s hefty price tag, with Newcastle rumored to want £150m to even consider parting ways with the talented 25-year-old striker.
“Other than possibly Chelsea, I genuinely don’t think that anybody could afford to buy Alexander Isak; because of the way that the rules are structured with PSR, I don’t think that anybody could afford him.”
Alan Shearer further disclosed that, although a lot of teams will try to price Isak away from the Magpies, he doesn’t believe Newcastle United will entertain any bids for their prized asset.
‘I’d guess that they wouldn’t even entertain it. If you’ve paid £63 million for someone and he’s smashing the league up like he is right now, what would the price be?
‘I’ve looked at £150m being talked about, but I don’t think that they would even entertain that, why would they?” He said.
