A Journalist at Agoo FM, Okwahuman Piesie Afia Pokua has apologised to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II over her recent comments.

Afia Pokua on Onua TV “Biribi Gyegye Wo” show hosted by Mona Gucci heavily descended on the Asantehene over his silence on ongoing conflict between the Ashantis and other tribes especially, the Bonos.

She stated that the Ashantis behave as if they are more important than any other tribes. Adding that if the Asantehene claims he has money, he should use his own fund to complete Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

Her comments have caused widespread criticism on social media, especially the Ashantis.

In a statement, Afia Pokua said ” My comments about the Asantehene and Asanteman were unacceptable and potentially damaging to His Majesty’s hard-won reputation and integrity. The Asantehene has demonstrated exemplary leadership throughout his reign, earning the admiration of many.”

She promised to use the same medium to render an unconditional apology for her irresponsible behaviour next week.

“I solemnly promise to use the same medium to render an unconditional apology for my irresponsible behaviour next week. ” Part of the statement read.

Below is her full statement:

I unreservedly and unconditionally apologize to His Royal Majesty, the Asantehene, and by extension, the Asanteman Council, for my distasteful remarks made on the “Biribi Gyegye Wo” show aired on Saturday, 14th September 2024 Onua TV.

My comments about the Asantehene and Asanteman were unacceptable and potentially damaging to His Majesty’s hard-won reputation and integrity.

The Asantehene has demonstrated exemplary leadership throughout his reign, earning the admiration of many.

He embodies unity and peace which are the hallmarks of his esteemed leadership. I acknowledge that my thoughtless remarks may have been offensive, and for that, I am truly sorry.

Although I had no malicious intent, I thoughttless behaviour, I am aware I did not communicate well on the subject of discussion. I take full responsibility for my actions and consider this a valuable learning experience.

I solemnly promise to use the same medium to render an unconditional apology for my irresponsible behaviour next week. Thank you for considering my sincere apology.

Long Live Asantehene
