The outgoing Majority leader of Parliament and Member of Parliament for Effutu constituency, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has promised to work hard for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 9th Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana.

Alexander Afenyo-Markin said this after he was confirmed as the leader of the NPP in the 9th Parliament, a position that makes him the Minority Leader in Parliament.

The Effutu Member of Parliament, thanked the party’s leadership for giving him the opportunity to lead again in Parliament. He assured the party of his commitment to advancing its interest in Parliament. Alexander Afenyo-Markin revealed that the National Council of the party will soon release an official statement to confirm his appointment as the minority leader.

“The party will issue an official statement but all I can say is that I thank the National Council for the trust in me, the decision to confirm me to lead my side in parliament and I can promise them one thing, hard work, hard work, hard work. May God be my guide.” He said.

In support of Afenyo-Markin’s leadership as Minority Leader  of the 9th Parliament, the Member of Parliament for Asokwa constituency in the Ashanti region, Patricia Apiagyei has been named Deputy Minority Leader.

Frank Annoh-Dompreh, MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri Constituency in the Eastern Region, will serve as Chief Whip. Habib Iddrisu, MP for Tolon Constituency in the Northern Region, will take on the role of First Deputy Minority Whip, while Davies Opoku Ansah, MP for Mpraeso Constituency in the Eastern Region, has been appointed as Second Deputy Minority Whip.
