The Techiman Aduana Royal Family, has announced plans to celebrate this year’s yam festival at their newly built palace opposite the place of the Techiman Paramount Chief.
The celebration of their annual yam festival will take place on Friday August 30th, 2024. The yam festival holds a special significance as it marks the official permission for the Aduana clan in Techiman to consume yam, a staple food in their culture.
The Techiman Aduanahene who doubles as the Nifahene of the Techiman Traditional Area, Nana Boakye Ameyaw Pentempreh II, made this announcement during a ceremony attended by members of the Techiman Aduana Royal Family and other prominent community leaders at the new palace when the family were officially welcoming their deities in their ancestral home.
He explained that, the Paramount Chief of Techiman, is a respecter of traditions, culture and customs and as a result, as permit all his sub chiefs to celebrate the yam festival to honor the traditions of Techiman.
“When we first came to Techiman, we were welcomed by Ohene Ameyaw and through his grace, he has honored our family to be the Nifahene of Techiman. As I am a beloved son of Ohene Ameyaw and he is my beloved father.
“He is the first son of all Akans and he always holds in high esteem all our cultural heritage and customs. We as his sub chiefs also hold our culture, tradition and customs in high esteem.
“very soon, the Techiman Traditional Council will celebrate our yam festival, all the chiefs and royal family have a specific day that they will celebrate their yam festival and we the Aduana family will celebrate our yam festival on 30th August, 2024.” He said
Nana Boakye Ameyaw Pentempreh II, on behalf of the Techiman Aduana Family, invited all members of the Techiman community, as well as visitors from neighboring towns and cities, to join them in celebrating this special occasion as the festival promises to be an unforgettable experience, filled with music, dance, and delicious delicacy.
“I urge all members of the Aduana royal family and our loved ones to prepare and come to celebrate the yam festival. This is an annual festival in our community and I will therefore entreat all and sundry to come and support us.” Nana said
The Techiman Aduana Family hopes that the yam festival will bring the caln together and celebrate their shared heritage. The festival will also provide an opportunity for the Aduana clan to reconnect with their roots and celebrate their unique cultural identity.
