The Office of the Registrar of Companies(ORC) has on Monday, July 17,2023 commissioned a newly three storey building for the department at Adum-Kumasi in the Ashanti Region on the amount of GHS 8,000,00.
Addressing the occasion, the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, commended the Office of the Registrar of Companies under the leadership of the Board and the first Registrar of Companies, Mrs Jemima Oware under whose watch this has possibly been conferred on by its governing statute, the Companies Act,2019(Act 992).
He further added that, government has fully complied with the dictates of Act 992 by ensuring that the ORC now keeps 100% of its internally generated funds for its activities.
He also encouraged the ORC to underscore the need to undertake a comprehensive and effective digitization of its operations, stating that it is a statutory necessity for the department.
The Attorney General, also indicated that it is the wish of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government to build offices across the country.
In an interview, Nana Ama Akyiaa Prempeh, the head of the Ashanti Regional Office of the Registrar of Companies, encouraged people to see the importance of the department and make use of the new office that has been built for the department.
She further stated that any company that has or is not registered could be punished by law when identified and so advised CEOs to register their companies.
