Ghanaian reggae-dancehall artist, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr widely known as Shatta Wale has questioned the Vice president and presidential candidate for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia his policies to transform the lives of the people on the streets.
He said the people on the streets are the biggest fans of successful persons in the country but they are left behind in the past and present governments policies.
Speaking during Dr. Bawumia’s meeting with the entertainment industry, Shatta Wale said sometimes when he watches how the people on the streets are struggling, he feels like what is the government putting in place for them.
According to him, Dr. Bawumia has been talking about job creation but specific policies that would help the people on the streets have been left behind.
“I have been watching your campaigns and you have been talking about creating jobs and I can see your slogan says to lead is to solve. I am actually here to tell you about these great people here. We might be in this room like this but the people who made us who we are, are not in this room. And those are the fans.” He said.
“Your Excellency, I have been on the streets as a ghetto boy. Most of the time when I am on the streets I see these boys in traffic and sometimes I wonder if a government will come to power like if you want to be my president, I want to understand how well you will communicate to these people on the streets? These are the fans that support all of us here but sometimes when I watch them I feel like “what is the government putting in place for people like this?” Shatta Wale quizzed.
