Former Ghana national U-17 football team, known as the Black Starlets coach, Laryea Kingston has revealed why he resigned from his post.
The Ghanaian former professional footballer resigned as the head coach of the youngest team that represents Ghana in football after they failed to reach the finals of the WAFU B Cup of Nations.
The Black Starlets kicked out in the semifinals of the WAFU B U-17 tournament.
The cause of Laryea Kingston’s resignation brought a lot of discussion on social media but speaking in an interview, the footballer revealed that the main reason why he resigned was that the environment was not healthy for him to discharge his duties.
“This is not about running away, the environment was not too healthy for me so I think that is the reason why I resigned. But that is not about running away.” He revealed.
According to him, he realized that a lot of people were watching his efforts after he resigned from his post.
He said the perception that he ran away is false.
“I think this is a typical example of how you should work hard and not only work hard when you think people are watching you. Because as soon as I resigned then the emails started coming in, so it looks like a lot of people are watching the efforts and the work I was putting in at the National under 17 (U-17).
The Ghana national U-17 football team are two-time FIFA U-17 World Cup Champions in 1991 and 1995.
