The Kunsuhene in the Ahafo Ano South West District of the Ashanti region of Ghana, Nana Dr. Agyemang Badu Duah I, has called on all stakeholders to join the government in the quest to improve the standard of education in the country.
He disclosed that, a nation cannot develop without education and the promotion of education in a country is a collective responsibility hence the call for all stakeholders to come on board.
Nana Dr. Agyemang Badu Duah I, made this known during a sod cutting ceremony of a six unit classroom block with auxiliaries for the Kunsu R/C Primary School
According to him his motivation to support his folks it’s a legacy by His Royal Majesty Otumfour Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene.
He further explained that, “children are our future and education is now the backbone of the world so I can’t just sit aloof as the children sit under this structure and trees to learn.
“How can they even understand what is being taught under such condition, so although they asked for a three classroom block but I decided to build six classroom block to prevent a situation where they will be in dire need of a classroom in the future.”
He revealed that, the classroom block, will be completed within the next 6 months
“By the grace of God, the classroom block will be completed in the next six months and I will call you to cover the commissioning of the classroom block.” He said
Mr. Justine Kwesi Gbotor, the Ahafo Ano South West District Education Director, hailed Nana Kunsuhene for his vision in terms of education,health, human capacity support for the community.
He explained that, the 6 unit classroom block, when completed will go a long way and solving the over population in classrooms in the school.
“We had over 70 students in a single classroom and that does not help in the teaching and learning process, so when I heard that Kunsuhene wanted to build a classroom block in the community, I was overwhelmed.
“What Nana has done is very big pillar in our traditional leadership, I will plead with Nana Kunsuhene to continue to follow the footpath of Otumfour Osei Tutu in promoting education in the region.” He said.
Mr. Justine Kwesi Gbotor, continued, “I will plead with all our traditional leaders to do same in their communities and by so doing, we can collectively help improve the standard of education in our communities.
“I will continue to plead with the teachers to be dedicated in our their work and I know that with dedication and hard work, they will contribute their quota in developing our country.
The Assembly Member for Kunsu Electoral Area, Hon Foster Ato, said “we have realized that we the indigents have to do this by ourselves, Nana Kunsuhene really have the community at heart, he always champions all developmental projects in the community and that is why we the people of Kunsu have decided to support him in everything he does.”
