Africa’s leading pay-TV operator StarTimes Group, will once again broadcast the Ghana Premier League.

The Chinese electronics and media company secured an initial 10 year broadcasting deal with the Ghana Football Association for $17,950,000. In the initial deal, StarTime acquires all media rights of the Ghana Premier League, the Gala, the National Division One League, the MTN FA Cup, the Ghana Women’s League and the Ghana Juvenile League.

They were also supposed to provide ten artificial pitches and a fully equipped modern OB van to the GFA while investing more in the production of the programs on Ghana Premier League and broadcast more matches of the league in Ghana and other African countries.

The deal renegotiated to four years worth $5.25 million in the year 2020. The Ghana Football Association decided to part ways amicably with Startimes at the expiration of the contract. The contract termination are still unknown.

However, per reports, Startimes is coming back to telecast the Ghana Premier League.

According to Startimes, they owe the Ghana Football Association $995K and the reason why they owe GFA is due to rise of the dollars in the country.

They further said, they will pay the arrears, and pleads with the Ghana Football Association to give them a grace period of 6 months to settle the arrears.

Also increase their offer from last contract to $4M but will remain the same even if the dollars go high or low.

It is certain that the GFA have agreed and will be available shortly to broadcast the matches.
