Techiman Krontihene urges peace ahead of elections

The Techiman Krontihene and Acting President of the Techiman Traditional Council, Nana Takyi Fri II, has called on the people of Techiman to prioritize peace and unity as the country approaches the upcoming elections.

Speaking to journalist during the Yam Festival  celebrations of the Paramount Chief of Techiman,  Nana Oseadeayo Akumfi Ameyaw IV, Nana Takyi Fri II, emphasized the importance of maintaining harmony before, during, and after the elections.

Nana’s plea comes as a reminder of the violent incidents that marred the last general elections in Techiman. Nana Takyi Fri II urged citizens to learn from past experiences and work towards a peaceful and united community.

“Today is Fofie and we are here to celebrate Manhene’s Yam Festival, all the sub chiefs of Techiman has a special role that they will play in the celebrations that is why all the chiefs are gathered here today.

“Our main aim of the celebrations is to think about how best we can develop our city and for that reason, on behalf of Oseadeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV,  we pray that we will witness a violence free elections, we don’t what happened during the last elections to repeat itself.” He said.

Nana Takyi Fri II continued, “All the politicians in Techiman and Ghana at large must not engage in any act that will disturb the peace, unity and harmony of our country. Only one party will win this year’s elections so the party’s involve must accept the results of the elections in good fate.

“We the traditional leaders seeks only peace because without peace, we cannot develop our city, so we will base on this celebrations and urge all politicians and inhabitants of Techiman to be tolerance towards one and other so that we will continue to enjoy the peace, unity and harmony in the country.

By preaching peace and unity, the people of Techiman can ensure a stable and secure environment for all, regardless of political affiliations. The Techiman Traditional Council’s message serves as a timely reminder of the importance of peaceful coexistence, especially during times of political tension.
