Mothers urged to advice their husbands, children against electoral violence

Techiman Diocesan Organizer for the Christian Mothers Association and Krontihemaa of Bouyem Traditional Area, Nana Serwaa Kruwaa, has urged mothers to advise their husbands and children against electoral violence.

Nana Serwaa Kruwaa, encouraged them to have open and honest conversations with their family members, making sure they understand the consequences of engaging in violent behavior during elections.

Nana Serwaa Kruwaa, stressed that preserving peace and unity in the country is of utmost importance, and that mothers have a responsibility to ensure their children and husbands do not participate in any form of electoral violence.

“As an elderly woman, I will plead with parents to sit down with their children and advise them especially against election malpractices. Some parents have forced the children who are not 18 years old to register in the during the voters registration exercise just because they want their party to come to power.

“Such practices in the long run will affect the children, when such child gets employed, he may retire early due to the age he or she has on the voters register, so instead of that child to enjoy the full benefits of being employed by the government, he  or she may end up losing out due and will be forced to retire early.

“We should bear in mind that we don’t have any other country aside Ghana, children and women are the most vulnerable should any bad thing happen in this year’s elections. So as mothers and wives, we have to advise our husbands, brothers, friends and children to respect all the rules and regulations that govern the election so that we will have a peaceful election. Life will go on after the elections so we have a responsibility to ensure that we preserve the peace and unity we are currently enjoying in the country, we have to ensure that our families and other relationships are united after the elections.” She said

Nana Serwaa Kruwaa, said this during the golden jubilee of the Techiman St. Paul’s Cathedral Christian Mothers Association.

The Techiman Bouyem Krontihemaa, also advised the people of Techiman South against any form of electoral violence and to ensure what happened in the municipality during the last general elections does not repeat itself.

“We in Techiman also have to ensure that what happened during the last general elections does not happen again, Techiman is now part of the  hotspots in the country and we have to ensure that we won’t repeat what happened in the last 4 years and concentrate on developing our city.” Nana Serwaa advised
