Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, has expressed his confidence in the team’s recent recruitment.
According to him, the team has put in the right measures in signing players for the upcoming season.
Ogum revealed that he spent last season closely watching other games while scouting potential players for Asante Kotoko.
Dr. Prosper Ogum, said he is convinced that the newly recruited players possess the skills and talent necessary to contribute significantly to the team’s success.
“Technically, they are very good players, they are able to exhibit the basics in the game, the basics and advanced characteristics of the positions that they play.
” They are comfortable on the ball, they are fast, they are strong on the ball, and you can see that they are very very confident as individual players and as a group so I am happy I tracked them and was able to sign them. I think they are going to give us a new face in respect to our performance.” He said.
He continued,” when it come to trying to scout, you engage a lot of people and locally, I have been watching the league, apart from our own matches I have been watching other matches just to have a fair idea of most of these players so that when it comes to scouting, I will be able to identify those that I think are fit in areas to the way I believe football should be played which basically we call the football philosophy.”
The Gaffer explained that he works closely with some colleagues and scouts in selecting the right players for the Porcupine Warriors.
” I have colleagues and scouts who follows the league and they also try as much as possible to come together, look at what I have and what they also have and we try to see if for instance we are able to identify four players for a particular position, what we do is that we look at them in terms of merit.”
Dr. Ogum, further explained that the supporters of Kotoko are thrilled to see their new signings in action.
“The fans are happy, its an indication that what they want is what we have brought to their door steps, if you look at some of the individual players, they are players I think they themselves were having them in mind, thinking, praying and hoping that the coach will identify them and fortunately, I think our thoughts and their thoughts also met.” Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum explained
