Ghanaian defender, Yussif Mohammed Nurudeen is reportedly in advanced negotiations with Aiyinase based football club Karela United hours after deciding to terminate his contract with Asante Kotoko
The 31-year-old defender and the Porcupine warriors parted ways on mutual consent after the club failed to persuade him to prioritise his football career over his nursing profession.
“In light of this, an emergency meeting was convened on Sunday, August 4, 2024, where the Interim Management Committee (IMC) agreed to part ways with the player in the best interest of both parties. This decision was made to maintain the cohesion the team is building for the new season.” Kotoko said.
Yussif Mohammed Nurudeen earliar disclosed that has begun the process to seek for a transfer from authorities through the Ministry of Health (MoH) to get transfer to Kumasi and join his club.
“You know I am a professional nurse, playing in Kumasi and working in Tamale is very difficult for me. I’m still at home, working around to see how I can be transferred to Kumasi.” He reportedly said.
Initially reports suggest that Nurudeen Mohammed left Kotoko only to focus on his nursing career since the defender also holds a position with the Ghana Health Service as a practicing enrolled nurse.
However, According to reports, Nurudeen is eager to join Karela United, as talks with Karela were already ongoing before terminating his contract yesterday with Asante Kotoko.
The transfer is expected to be completed in the coming days, pending the finalization of contractual terms. Nurudeen will be a valuable addition to Karela United’s squad, as the team seeks to revamp their squad towards the upcoming football season.
Karela United finished 12th in last season’s BetPawa Ghana Premier League with 46 points. They won 12 out of 34 league matches, drew 10 and lost 12. The team scored 36 goals and conceded 42 goals.
