Court will today, Wednesday, July 31, 2024 hear a defamation case between Ghanaian actress, Martha Ankomah and Ghanaian actor, and comedian Kwadwo Nkansah, widely known as Lil Win.
Justice Forson Agyapong Baah at the High Court in Accra has ordered that Lil Win who was absent in the previous session and without legal representation be notified of the hearing and the court’s notes via the usual means after the completion of the Case Management Conference on July 25.
Martha Ankomah has sued Lil Win for denigrating her reputation.
Among other things, the actress is seeking: GH¢5 million in damages for defamation, Compensatory damages for harm to her reputation, Aggravated damages for the malicious nature of the statements, An apology and retraction of the defamatory words and also An injunction preventing Lil Win from making further defamatory statements.
She said this will serve as a deterrent to others since they are role models to others and for that matter they have to set good examples for their people to follow.
“We are not backing down, people think the case has been discontinued but I have not. I believe that the rule of law works in this country so I don’t think you can insult someone just like that and go scout free, I think we are to call ourselves role models, people must learn from us and we must det good examples out there. So the case is in court and we are waiting to see what the court will do about it but whatever the outcome will be I will let Ghanaians know.” Martha Ankomah said in her previous interview.
Lil Win was seen in a video claiming if not for GTP no one would have signed Martha Ankomah.
Adding that she became a star because she is a female actress and that she would have suffered if she was a male actor.
This came after the actress shot down a request to collaborate with Kumawood actors, citing an aversion to witchcraft storylines.
