Outspoken Sports Journalist, Saddick Adams has criticised the government for failure to renovate the deteriorating condition of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in the Ashanti Region buildings for many years.

According to him, it is very embarrassing that the government can not renovate the health facility which is the biggest in the region and the second biggest referral center in the country but depending on donations.

It could be recalled that the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in November 2023, launched the “Heal Komfo Anokye Hospital Project “ to raise $10 million for the hospital’s renovation.

But the award – winning journalist believes the government could have done that without the donation.

“It is very embarrassing that Ashanti Regions biggest health facility and the second biggest referral center in the country, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, is in shambles and it has to take (yibima or lalasulala) donations to give it a facelift.” He wrote on his X.

“This country and its leaders say they don’t have $10 million dollars to transform KATH into a World class hospital?Does it have to take Nana to sit in public and take donations for the most important project in ASHANTI REGION?” He added.

To be honest!!!

It is very embarrassing that Ashanti Regions biggest health facility and the second biggest referral center in the country, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, is in shambles and it has to take (yibima or lalasulala) donations to give it a facelift.

This country and its leaders say they don’t have $10 million dollars to transform KATH into a World class hospital?

Does it have to take Nana to sit in public and take donations for the most important project in ASHANTI REGION?

When I read about individuals and religious organizations donating daily, I cringe. Knowing that perhaps we lose more than $10m to corruption daily.

So the political figures especially those from Ashanti are not embarrassed by this?

Where do they think they’ll be taken in case of emergency? Why is this not worrying?
