The Kosmos Innovation Center, as part of its Agritech Challenge Classic, has organized a  two-day market research tour for AgriTechies under the Ejura Agric College and Mechanization Center.

The market research tour, which started on Monday 22nd July, 2024 and ended on Tuesday 23rd July, 2024, was aimed at providing AgriTechies with a comprehensive understanding of how the agricultural value chain operates.

The AgriTechies, visited  six (6) companies within the Bono East and Ashanti region of Ghana, the first day of the tour saw the AgriTechies paying visits to Ghana Nut Company Ltd in Techiman, where they got the opportunity to visit all departments within the company as they were taken through the various stages and processing the company use in producing their products which are the Akoma Soya Bean Oil, Poultry Master and Shea butter.

The AgriTechies were later taken to De Don company ltd, producers of Star Rice in Tuobodom, the AgriTechies got the opportunity to learn the process involved in producing parboiled rice, on Tuesday 23rd July, 2024, the AgriTechies visited Zipline International Inc, Peace and Love Vegetable Growers Association, Premium Foods Limited and Hakama Company Ltd all in the Ashanti region.

During the tour, AgriTechies had the opportunity to interact with industry experts, visit various stages of the agricultural value chain, and learn about the latest trends and technologies in the field.

The Programs Officer in charge at the  Ejura Agric College and Mechanization Center, under the Kosmos Innovation Center’s Agritech Challenge Classic, Mr. Ferdinand Anane Frimpong, in an interview with Elvisanokyenews.com revealed that, with the hands-on experience, participants will gain valuable insights and knowledge that will inform their decisions on their business ideas. This knowledge he explained will also help them in developing their minimum viable products (MVPs).

“We started our market research tour on 22nd July, it is part of the various activities we will be undertaken to train our AgriTechies as they aim to take charge of the agriculture sector.

“The aim of this market research tour is basically to take our AgriTechies to companies within the agricultural value chain for them to learn how those companies operates, and how best our AgriTechies can learn from the companies and inform their decision as their plan to produce their minimum viable product for the KIC Classic Challenge.

“This tour will give the AgriTechies a whole lot of options to choose from in terms of their business ideas and how best to approach such ideas as well as their team formations.” He said

Mr. Ferdinand further disclosed that, with the help of the market research tour, the AgriTechies will appreciate the Agricultural Value Chain Industry and get rid of the notion that farming and that matter agriculture is “for the poor.”

“We also aim to eradicate the notion that farming and for that matter agriculture is not a lucrative business and its for the poor in the community.

“That is why we conducted the market research tour for two days so that even if any of our AgriTechies failed to learn something on the first day, that person will at least learn one or two things in the second day as the companies shares their success stories and challenges.” He told our reporter.
