Richard Ahiagbah, the Director of Communications for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has shot down an apology issued by Accra-based Media General’s management over a post against vice president and the flagbearer of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

The Media House published a satirical cartoon over Nurses’ trainee allowances and later deleted the post.

In an apology letter, the media house stated that “We refer to a publication by satirist ‘Tilapia da Cartoonist’ on the issue of nurses trainees allowances.”

“We retract and apologize for the depiction of the NPP flagbearer in the said publication or any related unsavory comments made on any of our platforms in recent times.” The pology said.

“As a responsible media organization, we value fairness, accuracy, and respect in our reporting and content creation,” Part of the apology read.

Reacting to the apology, Richard Ahiagbah stated that Media General’s management does not seem sincere in their apology.

He said the Media House intentionaly published the false story against Dr. Bawumia to promote a known NDC propaganda about the Vice President.

According to him, it is clear that the NDC and the Media General’s management are working together.

“The apology from Media General’s management does not seem sincere. The management approved the publication on June 19, 2024, knowing that it was false, but they went ahead and published it to promote a known NDC propaganda about the Vice President. It is clear that they are working together, and we can see it.” Ahiagbah stated.

Some social media users believe the best thing for the NPP to do is to direct their communicators to stop going to the media house.

“I will be very disappointed if you guys accept to go there again. Let them run their ndc program”

“Are you working together with Peace Fm? For 8 years this your useless government has subjected Ghanaians through pain and anger. You push more Ghanaians to abject poverty than in the history of any other government. You are happy because you benefit from the stolen monies.” Someone also quizzed.
