Outspoken media personality, Bridget Otoo has reacted to the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2024 election, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as Napo’s apology over comparison of former president of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s achievements and the incumbant president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s achievements.

The journalist seems not happy about the content of the apology letter.

According to her, any apology that tries to sneak in an explanation or justification is dead on arrival and that 2nd and 3rd paragraph of Napo’s apology letter are nullified.

The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South in a statement said “My statement last Tuesday, 9th July in Kumasi on the performance of President Akufo-Addo has elicited varied reactions.”

“The statement reflects my personal opinion about President Akufo-Addo’s impact relative to other Presidents we have had.”

“I wish to emphasise that I never meant to disrespect our former President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah or any of our former heads of state, including my own grand uncle and mentor, Mr. John Agyekum Kufuor,”

“I note the concerns raised after my statement. I apologise sincerely and regret any discomfort caused.”

But Bridget Otoo understands the 2nd and 3rd paragraph still explain the importance and legacies of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leaders which does not make any difference from his previous statement

“2nd and 3rd paragraph nullifies 4th paragraph.” The Broadcast Journalist wrote.

During Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s confirmation as the running mate to the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Energy Minister stated that since independence, no president has developed and protected Ghana than President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The statement has faced strong criticism from Ghanaians especially the opposition parties.

A lot of Ghanaian celebrities also expressed their displeasure about the statement from Napo.

Some political actors believe the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will lose the 2024 elections because of Bawumia as a running mate.
