The Member of Parliament for Techiman North Constituency in the Bono East Region, Hon. Lawyer Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare has admitted that it is not an easy job at all being an opposition MP because of the current “Winner takes all” system of partisan politicking.
But she maintains that she is proud of her performance and achievements in the past three and half years since she assumed the seat especially in areas of infrastructural development, human or social capital support, employment, supply of education, health and agricultural logistics amongst the many others.
“It is not easy to serve my people as a Member of Parliament because my party is not in office but despite all the challenges, I have ensured that the good people of Techiman North enjoys the best of infrastructures, social support, education, best of health care and agricultural logistics.” She said
Hon. Ofosu-Adjare made this disclosure in an interview with Nana Kwadwo Adu, monitored by Elvisanokyenews.com when she embarked on a community visitations in the Techiman North Constituency where she donated Teaching & Learning Materials to several Schools and climaxed it with the commissioning of an ultra-modern Market at Krobo to improve the livelihoods of the Traders and boost the local economy.
The Techiman North MP pleaded with the electorates to renew her mandate come December 7th elections.
“We have realized both members of NPP and NDC supported me during the construction and commissioning of the market, even the person that cooked food to serve the workers is a member of the New Patriotic Party.
“this shows that I have the support of all the people of Techiman North irrespective of their political party affiliation, I have already said this, that I am here to serve the people of Techiman North and not a political party.
“This market is for the people of market and nobody will pay for it, I will urge the people of Techiman North to vote massively for me come December 7th and also vote massively for the John Dramani Mahama, the developmental projects you are seeing will be doubles when the NDC is in power.” Hon. Elizabeth said.
According to her, plans are far advanced to secure loans for market women to expand their businesses when the NDC comes to power as it is part of the policies of John Dramani Mahama to introduce the National Women’s Development Bank to support Traders.
“The next NDC government have the development of women at heart, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and the NDC will establish a National Women’s Development Bank to support our mothers. Traders will get loans from this bank to support their business with ease.” She said.
Nana Amobea Dufie, the Queenmother of Krobo who doubles as Kyidom Hemaa of Techiman Traditional Council and Hon. Yeboah Richard the Assembly Member for the Area commended the hardworking MP for her exploits and advised the Market Women to cultivate culture of maintenance in order for the facility to last longer.
“I will plead with the people of Krobo especially those who will be plying their trade in the market to be united and live in harmony, we must also keep the market neat at all times.” Nana Amobea Dufie advised the traders and people of Krobo
