Ghanaians travelling to the Republic of Kenya will now receive free Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA).
According to the Kenya government, the issuance of Electronic Travel Authorisations to Ghanaian travelers at no cost form part of the existing visa-free regime agreement between the two countries.
This was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration wish to inform the public that the Republic of Kenya in recognition of the existing visa-free regime agreement between the Republic of Kenya and the Republic of Ghana has informed that Ghanaian travellers will now be issued an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) on gratis upong application for travel to Kenya.” The Foreign Affairs Ministry announced in a statement.
The statement added that Ghanaians intended to travel to Kenya are to summit their EAT application for approval prior to their departure.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry advised the public to note this new development accordingly.
“In this regard, Ghanaians intended to travel to Kenya are to submit their EAT application through www.etakenya.go.ke for approval prior to their departure. The travelling public is hereby advised to take note of this new development accordingly.” Parto of the statement read.
The free Electronic Travel Authorisation comes after the East Africa country announced visa-free for all foreign nationals.
During the celebration of the 60-year anniversary of Kenya’s independence in Nairobi, President William Ruto announced visa free waiver for all foreign nationals beginning January 2024.
“Beginning January 2024, Kenya will be a visa-free country. This means, it shall no longer be necessary for any person from any corner of the globe to carry the burden of applying for a visa to come to Kenya,” President Ruto announced.
The move, according to the Kenyan government, will promote and strengthen businesses in the country to enhance development.
