It was like a drama in Cape Coast magistrate court on Wednesday, 15th June, 2023 when the couples narrated their stories leading to the divorce.
During the hearing of legal separation between Hon. Ernest Arthur, Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly Chief Executive and his wife, Mrs. Hetty Arthur, locally known as Maame Efua, the Mayor accused his wife for inability to perform his marital duties.
The Mayor explained that his wife has refused to cook for him and wash his clothes. This, according to him, does not help promote their marriage and also affects him in discharging his duties, hence the divorce.
For her part, Mrs. Hetty Arthur said his husband has been having extra marital affairs to the extent that she had a side-chick called Maggie out of wedlock and currently dating a lady by name Abigail who was posted to his office to do her mandatory National Service.
The woman claimed the husband filed for divorce upon confronting him and consistently asking him to desist from such an act which is tarnishing his image as MCE and their mariage.
Report says, the Mayor was not happy with his wife’s complaints hence, the suit to divorce her.
It was alleged that Hon. Ernest Arthur has removed the E.C.G meter they acquired to operate a cold store a week after the separation without informing her, indicatig his willingness to divorce his wife.
They have been married for 14 years with 3 children, 2 boys and 1 girl.
According to the report, neither Ernest Arther nor Hetty Arthur paid spousal support. No other financial details were made publicly available at the time this report was filed.
Information available to this portal indicated that Hetty Arthur did not plan to change her name despite the divorce.
