NPP primaries has ended; Let’s come together to win 2024 elections – Ken Agyapong

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong has called on party faithful to come together to win the 2024 general elections.

According to the Assin Central Member of Parliament, the NPP primaries has ended ad the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has been elected as the party’s flagbearer so there is no Bawumia supporters and Ken Agyyapong supporters they are all NPP members.

Kennedy Agyapong said this when he addressed a gathering to mark his 64th birthday on June 16, 2024.

His comment comes after the outspoken politician was criticized for joining Dr. Bawumia’s campaign on June 11, 2024,  as part of the NPP flagbearer’s three-day campaign tour of the region.

“It didn’t go well with some of you, let me apologize for not informing you before I went there. In fact, what I want all the party faithful to know is that I have not resigned from the party, I am not going independent, I am still an NPP member. And you know, once I am a party member, no matter what comes during the primaries, I think we are all party people and it will be best for us to come together.” The lawmaker said.

He pleaded with the supporters of both sides to come together for one purpose and focus on how the party can defeat their main opponent National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“So I am pleading with my supporters, let us use my birthday to reconcile. I am also pleading to Vice President supporters, I know they are intimidating my supporters. If they want us to come together and unite for a united front, then they should also reciprocate the same favors I am rendering on behalf of my supporters. So I am pleading with both sides, we have finished the primaries, the vice president has won and therefore there are no Kennedy Agyapong supporters, no vice president supporters. We are NPP supporters.” Ken pleaded.

According to him, many people have approached him to go for independence in the 2024 general elections but he refused because of his love for the party.

“I am not selfish, people have come to me several times to say go independent. I think that is not the wise thing to do and therefore I have refused to do that. So I am pleading with the supporters and the NPP supporters, NPP people everywhere bbe united front, we can win the elections in 2024. I am glad the National Chairman is here.” He stated.
