The District Chief Executive of Nkoranza North, Hon. Peter K. Fosu, says the Bono East region is blessed with vast arable lands.
According to him, almost all the lands in the region support farming and inhabitants of the region have a strong passion for farming and as a result, abject poverty is rare in the region.
Hon. Peter K. Fosu, made this revelation during day one of a two-day workshop organized by the Bono East Regional Statistical Service on Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI).
He further explained that, the living condition in the Bono East Region is relatively good compared to those in other regions due to the availability of vast arable lands in the region.
“God has blessed the Bono East Region, so there is nothing like abject poverty in the region, we have good lands and many of the people in the region are into farming, this has helped to improve our living conditions compared to other regions but we have not reached where we should be.
“So if we invest in farming, we won’t experience poverty in our region because we have good lands for farming, so I will entreat all and sundry to venture into farming because it has the tendency of providing us with a good life in the future. He said.
Hon. Peter K. Fosu, ceased the opportunity to applaud the NPP led government for its immense contribution and support to farmers
“You need a lot of resources to be a successful farmer and the government is doing its part to help farmers, if you will remember, during the first year of Nana Addo tenure, he introduced the Planting for Food and Job program and we all attest to the fact that the initiative has gone a long a way in combating food scarcity in the country.
“Although during phase one of the Planting for Food and Job, some farmers failed to honor their part of the deal by not paying what they should pay to the government but the PFJ has helped farmers and the country a lot.” He said
