NPP has changed the spirit of holding political power from service to wealth acquisition – Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang

The running mate to former president John Dramani Mahama has lamented over how the main purpose of political power has been changed most especially under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

According to Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, the main purpose of holding a political power is to serve the people but now its spirit has been changed from service to wealth acquisition.

“As politicians, our first duty must be to God, then to the good people of Ghana. It’s a duty of service, not a duty of amassing individual wealth from dubious sources. Why should we change the spirit of holding political power from service to wealth acquisition?” The former Minister of Education wrote on her X.

She said the leadership of president Nana Addo and Bawumia has seen high levels of greed, unbridled arrogance, unrestrained impunity, sheer dishonesty, barefaced hypocrisy, and a lack of compassion which does not benefit the citizens.

“The last seven years have seen high levels of greed, unbridled arrogance, unrestrained impunity, sheer dishonesty, barefaced hypocrisy, and a lack of compassion displayed by this incumbent government.” She stressed.

The former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast added that many have given up and lost hope in politicians but the next NDC administration will bring back dignity.

“Many have given up and lost hope in politicians. Why should it be so? Let’s bring dignity back to leadership. Let’s vote for change to rebuild this country.”  She said.

Jane Opoku Agyamang believes the best question every political leader should ask themselves is “Is this the best I can do?” so that they can deliver to the expectation of the people.

“One principle that has guided me through my journey is the question I always ask myself after every task: “Is this the best I can do?” I always strive to give my very best.”

She claimed that former president John Dramani Mahama and herself will ask themselves this particular question when Ghanaians give them the opportunity in the December 7 polls.

“John and I will always ask ourselves, “Is this the best we can do?” Fellow citizens, I propose change to restore our nation.” Jane Opoku Agyemang added.

Ghanaians are gearing up to decide who should lead them in the next four years.

The two leading political parties in Ghana, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) are sharing their visions and what they can do to transform the country to Ghanaians ahead of this year’s crucial general elections.

The NPP said they want to win the elections to break the 8 but their main opponent says all indications show that they have already won the elections.
