“The PFJ 2.0 is for all farmers, be dedicated in your line of duty” – AEAs urged

The Techiman South Municipal Director of Agriculture, Mr. Stephen Aidoo, has urged Agricultural Extension Agents (AEAs) within the Municipality to be dedicated in their official line of duty.

On the PFJ 2.0, he emphasized that the success of registration of farmers and farms depends largely on Agricultural Extension Agents hence the need for AEAs in Techiman and the country at large to be dedicated in executing their mandate in connection with this Agricultural initiative of the Government.

Mr. Stephen Aidoo, made this assertion during a Technical Review Meeting held at the Bonokyempem Hall in the Techiman South Municipality of the Bono-East Region.

The Technical Review Meeting, which was chaired by the Municipal Director of Agriculture, Mr. Stephen Aidoo with support from the DDOs, AEAs, supporting staff, National Service Personnel with the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko, being the Special Guest for the meeting, was aimed at assessing the progress of the ongoing registration of farmers onto the project, determining some challenges facing the registration exercise and providing solutions to such challenges.

Mr. Aidoo, reiterated on the crucial role that AEAs play in facilitating the registration process, providing technical assistance, and supporting farmers in accessing the benefits and services of the program.

He also seized the occasion to highlight the importance of professionalism, commitment, and excellence in delivering extension services, training, and advice to farmers to enhance productivity, sustainability, and profitability in Agriculture.

He cautioned the AEAs to refrain from speaking on matters that they don’t have enough information about. He entreated them to channel all concerns and challenges to the Department of Agriculture for a redress.

The Techiman South Municipal Director of Agriculture, encouraged his AEAs to register all farmers that were interested to benefit under the PFJ 2.0 irrespective of the social, economic background and political affiliations.

“PFJ 2.0 is a Government program and therefore should be viewed as such, so every farmer has to be registered under this program, even if a group of farmers within your operational areas invite you to register with them, do so without hesitation.”

The Municipal Director of Agriculture rechoed that the program is for all farmers, and so the MoFA is very serious about it so AEAs should be very circumspect and professional in doing this job.

Mr. Stephen Aidoo, underscored the significance of teamwork, coordination, and data-driven decision-making in achieving program objectives, targets and outcomes.

On his part, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko, applauded the Department of Agriculture for the work done so far as the registration of farmers under the PFJ 2.0 is concerned. He promised to make himself available in subsequent Technical Review Meetings to ascertain challenges and progress of the Department.

In the nutshell, the Hon. MCE urged the Staff of the Department to work hard and be circumspect in their approach towards the Planting for Food and Job 2.0 in order not to thwart the effort of the Government in creating jobs, and improving the livelihood of the people in Ghana.
