Methodist Church Ghana, Wenchi Diocese organizes 2024 camp meeting

The Methodist Church Ghana, Wenchi Diocese, has organized its 2024 Diocesan Camp meeting.

The purpose of the camp meeting was to help the congregation grow in their maturity in Christianity and strengthen their faith with the theme, “Discipleship: Growing into Christian Maturity” Ephesians 4:14-15.

The Diocesan Camp meeting is an important gathering within the Methodist Church Ghana which serves as a platform for spiritual growth, fellowship, and learning.

This year’s camp meeting at the Techiman Methodist School Park, brought together members from various local churches within the Wenchi diocese to engage in worship, Bible study, prayer, and other activities aimed at deepening their understanding of the Christian faith.

The program was hosted by Very Rev. Godson Amankwah Amponsah with the Wenchi Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. Alfred Appiah Andam was the main speaker while the Administrative Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, Rt. Rev. Micheal Agyakwah Bossman was the guest speaker.

Other Ministers presented at the camp meeting which started on Friday 26th January, 2024 and ended on Sunday 28th January, 2024 were the Synod Secretary, Very Rev. Kobena Appiah, Asst. Synod Secretary, Very Rev. Emmanuel Ben Arthur and all other Superintendent and Circuit Ministers in the Wenchi Diocese.

During the camp meeting, participants had the opportunity to listen to inspiring sermons, engage in small group discussions, and participate in other church related activities which were led by experienced clergy members and guest speakers.

Those sessions focused on various aspects of Christian life, such as discipleship, prayer, evangelism, and living out one’s faith in everyday situations.

During the sermon, Rt. Rev. Micheal Agyakwah Bossman, revealed that God aims at uniting mankind as one body as Christians while demonstrating Christ like behavior.

He however disclosed that, we can all be united under Christ when we have attained maturity in the faith as stated in Ephesians 4:13

“until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”

He continues, “if anyone wants to be matured in Jesus, that person must accept Jesus Christ as his or her Lord and personal savior and by doing so, the person can follow the footsteps of Christ Jesus.”

According to him, the Bible has clearly laid down the plan of salvation and therefore urged the congregation to keep on reading their Bible as there is a greater reward for anyone who follows the word of God.

The Techiman South Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko, who was present on the final day of the camp meeting, revealed that he is a proud member of the Methodist Church and promised to support the church in his own small ways when the need arises.

Hon. Gyarko, also ceased the opportunity to thank the church for the constant support, prayers and directions offered on his behalf since his assumption in office at the MCE and promised not to backslide from the teachings of the church in discharging his duties as the Techiman South Municipal Chief Executive Officer.

“It’s been exactly two years and four months since I the President gave me the opportunity to be his representative at Techiman South as MCE, if not for the prayers and directions of the church, I wouldn’t be the MCE and for that I’m very much grateful, I am also grateful that you choose to have the diocesan camp meeting at Techiman and you will bear witness to it that security has been on point during your three days stay in Techiman.”

“Although you were honored by giving me a seat on the high table, I came here as a member of the church and whenever the church is doing any program of this nature, I will attend because I know what the church has done for me. And as the MCE, I have not disappointed the Methodist Church, in the three to four months, all the roads surrounding our school and church will be tired and also, we are building an urban park for our youth and it’s been built just behind our church.” He said.

On behalf of the Paramount Chief of the Techiman Traditional Area, the Kyidomhene of the traditional area and Krobohene, Nana Asa Akompanin II, said”, the Techiman Traditional Council is grateful to the Methodist church of Ghana, Nana Oseadeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV, is the Paramount Chief of Techiman and also a proud member of the Methodist church of Ghana, and as you all know, if not for some reason beyond his control, he would have been here to worship with his church so He said he should extend his greetings to Bishop and the congregation.

“He said he thank you all for remembering him in prayers when he wasn’t feeling well, Nana bear witnesses that, it wasn’t only the care of doctors that healed him but strongly believes that the prayers of the christian community in Techiman especially the Methodist church in Techiman healed him and he promised to join the church in worshipping God and give his testimony very soon.” Nana Asa Akompanin II revealed.
