UEW, Techiman campus organizes orientation for freshmen

The University of Education, Winneba, Techiman Campus, has organized an orientation program for its incoming freshmen students.

The purpose of the orientation was to officially welcome the new students to the university and provide them with important information regarding the rules, regulations, courses offered at the school and grading system of the institution.

During the orientation, the freshmen had the opportunity to interact with faculty members and university staff who provided guidance and assistance throughout the program. They were introduced to the various academic departments and support services available on campus, such as the counseling center, and career development office.

The orientation program also included informative sessions on academic policies, campus safety, and student life. Freshmen were given an overview of the different courses and programs offered at the university, helping them make informed decisions about their academic pursuits.

Additionally, the orientation program aimed to foster a sense of community and inclusion among the new students. They were encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities, join student organizations, and take advantage of the various student support services available to enhance their overall university experience.

The Center Coordinator, who doubles as the Manwerehene Buoyem-Techiman, Nana Obiri-Korang Antwi-Boasiako, in an interview with Elvisanokyenews.com, disclosed that, “The University of Education, Winneba is committed to providing a supportive and nurturing environment for its students. The orientation program served as a valuable opportunity for freshmen to familiarize themselves with the university’s resources, policies, and opportunities, ensuring a smooth transition into their academic journey.”

“The orientation program organized by the University of Education, Winneba, played a vital role in officially welcoming and integrating the new students into the university community by providing them with the necessary information and support, the university aims to facilitate their success and growth throughout their academic career.” He said.

The Center Coordinator used the opportunity to debunk stories that distance education is inferior to regular education saying, “some people have the mentality that when we say distance, it’s different from regular education but that is not so, when you are going to buy our forms, you only buy under undergraduate or post undergraduate. You only choose to be a distance, regular or sandwich student when filling the forms, the course content of distance students is not different from those at main campus, there is no difference in the certificates that will be awarded to regular and distance students, the same Vice Chancellor will sign all certificates so the distance education is not inferior to regular education.”

Nana obiri-Korang Antwi-Boasiako, ceased the opportunity to solicit from support from all political and traditional leaders in the Bono East Region especially those in Techiman South and North to come to the aid of the institution since its the center is yet to fully to develop its 300 acres of land.

“The Techiman Traditional Council has really helped us a lot in establishing the institution, the land the school is on was donated by Nana Hansuahene, the Techiman Municipal Chief Executive and the Techiman North DCE also gave us some street bulbs but this institution is the only government university in the Bono East region, so I will plead with our politicians and MPs must help us to develop the university to enable the institution to run on regular basis.”

“The sad thing is, aside the MCE of Techiman South and the DCE of Techiman North, none of the politicians in Bono East has come to our aid, so I will plead with them to do so because this is the only government university in the region and we must develop it to meet the best standards.” He pleaded

Some freshmen who spoke with our reporter revealed that they have learned a lot of things from the orientation and look forward to passing their programs with the best of grades.

“I’m happy to be part of this orientation because I have learned a lot of things, I have learned that, as students of the institution, we must focus on our education, although we will make friends here but we must remember that the friends we make at the institution can make and unmake us. I will encourage others to also enroll at the University of Education, Winneba Techiman campus because the school can help them to shape their future for the best.” A freshman told our reporter.
