Abena Osei-Asare says the New Patriotic Party needs stronger discipline and respect for internal structures as it prepares to elect a new leader.

Speaking during the interview, the Atiwa East MP said declining discipline within the party has affected cohesion and effectiveness.

“For me, the discipline level in our party has gone down,” she stated during an extensive interview with Paul Adom-Otchere monitored by MyNewsGh.

She explained that party structures are often ignored, creating tension between grassroots members, middle-level leaders, and party elders.

“In every party there are systems and structures, but lately they are not working the way they should,” she said.

Abena Osei-Asare believes Kennedy Agyapong’s style and character align with the discipline the party needs.

“He stands for discipline. He is very honest about how he feels, and that instills discipline,” she noted.

On internal disputes, she urged the party to follow laid-down procedures rather than rushing to conclusions.

“We should go through the party structures and systems. That is the discipline I am talking about,” she said.
