The Minister for Trade, Abribusiness and Industry and Member of Parliament for Techiman North, Hon. Lawyer Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, as part of the government’s efforts to strengthen the country’s industrial base, has paid working visits to Wahu Company Limited and Entrance Pharmaceutical & Research Centre in Accra on Friday, 21st November 2025.
At Wahu, Hon. Ofosu-Adjare expressed admiration for the company’s remarkable growth, highlighting achievements in expanded production capacity, product diversification, and plans for both local and export market expansion.
Chief Executive Officer for Wahu, Madam Valerie Labi shared some operational challenges, including heavy taxation and limited access to VAT exemptions, appealing for policy support to drive the company’s vision forward.
The Minister commended Wahu for its resilience and innovation, emphasizing that industrial development is central to Ghana’s economic transformation agenda. She assured continued government support for indigenous companies and pledged close collaboration with the private sector to address operational bottlenecks.
During her visit to Entrance Pharmaceuticals, Hon. Ofosu-Adjare was briefed on the company’s extensive operations and export activities. CEO Elder Dr. Samuel Amo Tobbin outlined challenges, including delayed payments from some countries and the absence of a maize starch processing plant in West Africa, which impacts raw material sourcing.
Describing the suggestions as “timely, practical and economically strategic,” the Minister stressed the need for local production of key raw materials. She pledged to fast-track efforts to attract investors for maize starch production and engage trade ministers across the sub-region to ensure prompt settlement of obligations to Ghanaian manufacturers.
Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare revealed that her visits form part of the government’s broader strategy under the John Dramani Mahama-led administration to support industrial growth, boost local manufacturing, and position Ghana as a competitive player in regional and global markets.
