Bono East: deputy regional police commander engages techiman zongo communities, seeks prayers and partnership for peace

The Bono East Regional Deputy Police Commander, ACP Stephen Boadu, has embarked on a familiarization tour of the Techiman Zongo communities, visiting the Bono East Central Mosque and the Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah Central Mosque to seek prayers and strengthen collaboration between the Police Service and the Muslim community.

Addressing the leadership and congregants, ACP Boadu said his visit was to officially introduce himself and build stronger ties with community leaders to enhance peace and security in the region.

He explained that effective policing required active engagement with the people, adding that his office would remain open to community leaders and residents who wish to cooperate with the police to promote safety and stability.

“I am the new Deputy Regional Police Commander, and I am here to officially familiarize myself with the leadership of the Zongo and Islamic communities in Techiman. I ask for your prayers and support as I carry out my mandate in accordance with the law.

“The truth is, I cannot perform my duties effectively by sitting comfortably in my office without first engaging with the people and leaders I am meant to serve. I want to assure you that the office of the Regional Police Command and all other police commands in the region remains open to the public, especially to community leaders.” He stated

He further urged the youth to abide by the teachings of their Imams and religious leaders, stating that the Holy Qur’an encourages believers to live righteous lives and avoid sin.

“I urge the youth to strictly adhere to the teachings of their Imams and religious leaders, as the Holy Qur’an clearly instructs believers to stay away from sin. Those who live by these teachings will have no issues with the police. However, despite the good guidance of our Imams, some young people still choose to go their own way and, in doing so, violate the law.

“I therefore plead with the youth to stay out of trouble so that together, we can maintain peace in Techiman, attract investors, and promote development in our region.” He said.

The Deputy Chief Imam of the Techiman Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah Central Mosque, Alhaji Khalid Umai, on behalf of the congregation, expressed their deep appreciation for the visit, describing it as a rare gesture of respect and partnership from the Police Command. He assured the Bono East Deputy Police Commander of thier “full support and collaboration”

“You are only the second Police Commander to honor us with a visit to our community and place of worship, and we are very pleased about that. We pray for God’s grace and protection for you, knowing that your work is not easy, as those who break the law often try to undermine your efforts. You can always count on our full support and collaboration.” He stated.

The Bono East Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Musah Abdulai, also applauded ACP Stephen Boadu for taking the initiative to visit and familiarize himself with the Muslim community. He assured the Deputy Commander of the utmost support from the Islamic fraternity in Techiman and the Bono East Region at large.

Alhaji Musah Abdulai further advised the youth to refrain from engaging in criminal activities and cautioned that anyone who breaks the law will face justice in accordance with the laws of Ghana.

“We are very pleased with the visit from the Deputy Regional Police Commander, as it will help reduce tension in the Zongo communities and curb social vices in our area.

“We, the leadership of the Zongo communities, are ready to support him and the entire Command in their efforts to protect lives and property. I would like to advise the youth in our communities, especially those engaged in social vices and other negative behaviors, to take note that the Deputy Regional Commander has made it clear that he is committed to improving security and upholding the law. Therefore, any youth who engages in unlawful activities and finds themselves in police custody should know that we, the community leaders, will cooperate fully with the police in handling such cases according to the laws of this country.” He stated.
