The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced that negotiations are far advanced for Ghanaian nurses to work in Grenada.
Adding that more labour mobility agreements with other countries are currently under negotiations.
“20 more labour mobility agreements with other countries are currently under negotiations. We are also holding strategic talks to establish the first ever direct flight between Africa and the Caribbean. Welcome home, Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell of Grenada.” Ablakwa wrote on social media.
“As African Union Champion for Reparations, President Mahama shall continue to bridge the artificial African-Caribbean divide caused by the trans-Atlantic slave trade.” He said when Prime Minister of Grenada, Dickon Mitchell paid a courtesy call on his counterpart, President John Dramani Mahama.
The Minister also shared some fascinating anecdotes between the two countries and their Leaders.
Below are some of the things the two countries and their leaders shared together.
1) Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell announced that his DNA tracing prove he has Ghanaian ancestry;
2) It is now confirmed that 75% of the people of Grenada have ancestral links to Ghana;
3) Both ruling parties in Ghana and Grenada are known as the National Democratic Congress (NDC);
4) The two NDCs secured two-third majorities in the last round of parliamentary elections;
5) Both the NDC in Ghana and the NDC in Grenada returned to power with landslide victories after losing two previous elections.
