Former Minister of Education, Prof Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi has been detained by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) at Kawukudi, near Nima in the Greater Accra region.
According to a report by Citinewsroom, the cause of the former Chairman of the Public Procurement Authority Board arrest is not yet known.
Report says lawyers are present at the NIB offices in Kawukudi, working assiduously to secure bail for the former Minister in the John Agyekum Kufour administration.
Born on 21st January, 1945 at his hometown Jama-Techiman, Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi began his political career as a Member of Parliament in the year 2008.
The Ghanaian academic and politician attended Adisadel College in Cape Coast for his GCE O’ and A’ Levels.
In order to chase his dream, Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology in 1969 at the University of Ghana.
What Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi told the NPP ahead of the 2024 elections:
STOP THESE RALLIES AND INVEST IN GRASSROOT CAMPAIGN, PROF. AMEYAW-AKUMFI ADVISES NPP
Political rallies are known to enable party members to see and hear themselves, but generally do not add votes to the party’s electoral numbers. We are gradually moving away from that mode of canvassing for votes.
With just a little over three months to go for the general election, we should be changing our tactics. We should redirect our energies into supporting activities at the grassroots level:
1. Reconciliation committees charged to try and bring factions within constituencies together, should be adequately resourced to carry out their work.
2. Constituencies, through their polling station committees should be working around the clock.
3. Regional Campaign Teams should be supported to carry out their supervisory duties.
In my opinion, the period for “exposing” ourselves is over. Members should be empowered to do effective work at the grassroots. The ticket (BAWUMIA -NAPO) and PC should be touching hamlets( President Kufuor’s style).
IT IS POSSIBLE; but time is not on our side.
KUKRUDU, 3SHI RADU RADU!!!
