Noni Madueke ruled out for a Month with Hamstring Injury

Chelsea FC’s  22-year-old winger Chukwunonso Tristan “Noni” Madueke is set to be sidelined for a month after suffering a hamstring injury.

Noni Madueke suffered the injury during Chelsea’s embarrassing 3:0 defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion at the Falmer Stadium,  a defeat that saw Chelsea drop down to sixth in the table, slipping out of the Champions League qualification spots.

Chelsea are already without  Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu until after the international break in March, and Madueke has now been added to the list. Madueke’s injury means that Chelsea will be without two of their top three goalscorers for at least the next four games as he is set to miss Chelsea games against Aston Villa, Southampton, Leicester City and Arsenal.Cole Palmer remains Chelsea’s top scorer this season, followed by Jackson and Madueke, who has netted eight goals so far.

The 22-year-old also won’t be in contention for a place in former Chelsea coach, Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad ahead of their Word Cup qualifying double-header next month against Albania and Latvia. However, Noni Madueke is expected to return to action on April 2 when Chelsea host London rivals Tottenham Hotspurs at Stamford Bridge.

Madueke, who has been an exciting attacking option for Enzo Maresca’s side, will now undergo rehabilitation as he works toward a full recovery.

Chelsea have won just two of their last nine league games which has seen them drop down to sixth in the table, despite being tipped to challenge Liverpool for the title as recently as December. Maresca maintains that his squad aren’t ready to compete on multiple fronts, with their only hope of lifting silverware now the Conference League.
