Tottenham Hotspur manager, Angelos Postekos, popularly known as as Ange Postecoglou, has made Premier League history by becoming only the fourth manager to go unbeaten in his first four league encounters against Manchester United.
Ange Postecoglou etched his name into Premier League history after guiding Spurs to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Ruben Amorim’s side at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Before Sunday’s game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, only three managers; Ruud Gullit, Nuno Espírito Santo and Unai Emery had remained unbeaten in each of their first four against the Red Devils. However, a 13th minute strike from James Daniel Maddison ensured that Postecoglou added his name to the record books
The match was played out after a fans protest against Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy and the Spurs board ahead of the encounter with up to 2,000 supporters marching towards the stadium down the high street.
A large banner reading “24 years, 16 managers, 1 trophy – Time for change” reflected the growing discontent among the home crowd.
Maddison secured the win for Spurs when he reacted quickly to fire home a loose ball after Andre Onana had only managed to parry Lucas Bergvall’s shot into his path inside the United box.
The victory strengthens Tottenham’s league position, lifting them from 14th to 12th in the table.
Meanwhile, Manchester United’s struggles continue, raising further questions about their consistency under Ruben Amorim. The Red Devils are currently 15th on the league standings, and will travel away to the Goodison Park on Saturday 22nd February for their next English Premier League game against Everton.
